Tour-the biggest hassle of my job.
So I'm trying to plan this tour to sing with Dr. Mark Lawlor at Carnegie Hall-oh my gosh is it a pain. There is expense after expense that just keeps adding up and adding up. My original HOPE of the price has added $300 per student to it-ha, great. I can see the flood of parent phone calls now as soon as I tell them to tack on an extra $300. Bleh. Plus the district has so many rules about travel that I've been running around like mad trying to get this paperwork going. And of course they assume that I know-except that I don't because this is going to be my second year of teaching, BUT it will be my first trip (maybe my last, lol).
I walked into the school office today in my workout clothes (yeah, it was cute) and the secretary says, "what are you doing here?" I said, "my work is never done" only it was in a "I-just-wanted-to-be-on-vacation-this-summer" kind of way. I called Copley, the master of finding money for students, and she gave me some good ideas for fundraising. I'll let you in on a little secret...I'm praying for a miracle. Yup, I'm praying for a $40,000 check to be made from a donor to go toward this trip. No I don't know who it will be, no, I don't know where it's coming from (that's where the faith comes in). But I'm believing for it. So pray with me because I want these kids to experience singing at Carnegie Hall and not have to worry about where the money will come from to fund their way. God is big :o)
